Mike Volpi, the former superstar executive at Cisco who many believed was next in line for John Chamber's job before Volpi resigned earlier this year, has taken the CEO spot at Joost. This is a major coup for the Internet TV startup.
During the go-go 1990s, Volpi was head of M&A at Cisco, buying up more than 70 startups and keeping Cisco's growth chugging along. He knows how to evaluate the growth potential for startups. He also used to be on the board of Skype, so he knows the Joost founders well.
