Venture capitalists keep opening up that cash spigot. According to VentureOne, startups raised $7.4 billion in venture money in the second quarter of 2007, up 8 percent from the year before. Tech startups accounted for $4.1 billion of that (up 10 percent). There were 717 deals in the quarter overall (435 in tech), and the average amount raised was $8 million.
The last time these quarterly numbers were so high was back in 2001. The startup life is looking good again.
